Excerpt: The Asian Tour is the principal men’s professional golf tour in Asia except for Japan, which has its own Japan Golf Tour, which is also a full member of the International Federation of PGA Tours. The Asian Tour is administered from offices in Singapore. It is controlled by a board with a majority of professional golfers, and a Tournament Players Committee of its player members, supported by an executive team. The Executive Chairman of the Board is the Burmese professional golfer Kyi Hla Han. The first season in the current lineage was played in 1995, although there had been earlier attempts to create an Asian Tour. The Asian PGA was formed in July 1994 at a meeting in Hong Kong attended by PGA representatives from eight countries. In 1998 the Asian Tour became the sixth member of the International Federation of PGA Tours. In 2002, the tour moved its office from Hong Kong to Malaysia and in 2004 the tour was taken over by a new organisation established by the players, who had been in dispute with the previous management. In 2007 it moved to new headquarters on the resort island of Sentosa in Singapore, which is also the home of the tour’s richest sole sanctioned tournament, the Singapore Open. Official money events on the tour count for World Golf Ranking points. Most of the leading players on the tour are Asian, but players from other parts of the world also participate (as of 2007 the country with most representatives profiled on the tour’s official site is Australia). Each year the Asian Tour co-sanctions a number of events with the PGA European Tour, in countries such as China, Malaysia and Indonesia, with these events offering higher prize funds than most of the other tournaments on the tour as a result. Driving Myself Crazy: Misadventures of a Novice Golfer

$0.99

“Golf!” exclaimed Jessica Maxwell’s friend Rande. “I thought golf was for Republicans…and dorks!”Adventure writer Jessica Maxwell is neither, but she is a woman—and even today golf is primarily a sport for men. In fact, according to an unverifiable legend, the very name of the game comes from the words “Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden.” But Jessica loves a challenge, and when she decided to invade this male-dominated territory, she plunged in headfirst, the same way she learned how to ski and fly fish—two very demanding sports she took up in her early thirties after a life as a confirmed “non-jockette.” Surely golf couldn’t be that much more difficult…could it?Breezy and offbeat, Driving Myself Crazy is Jessica’s first-person account of her golfing education—the teachers, the theories, the mistakes and misadventures, and the confidence she feels once her game begins to improve. In this irreverent memoir, we get a front-row seat as Jessica struggles to learn golf’s etiquette, customs, and rules of engagement—from her first comical attempts to simply hit the damn ball, to the ultimate sign of arrival as a bona fide woman golfer… a complete set of Nancy Lopez clubs! Among those who help Jessica master the game are Peter Croker, a revolutionary teaching pro from Australia, and Cindy Swift Jones, his partner and putting guru, as well as Peggy Kirk Bell, a seventy-seven-year-old legend and one of the most famous figures in the history of women’s golf, and the queen of golf herself, Nancy Lopez. We also meet a gallery of other vivid characters from the fairways and greens, including the handsome “golf stalker” Graham, aman of mystery, wisdom and uncanny timing.Along the way, Jessica also visits some of the most beautiful golf courses in the country: the Robert Trent Jones Trail in Alabama, considered by many to be the world’s finest public golf facility; the scenic Whitefish Lake Club in

Excerpt: Barnbougle Dunes Golf Links is a golf course located near the seaside village of Bridport in Tasmania ‘s North-East. The 18 hole championship layout was designed by well known course architects Tom Doak and Mike Clayton, and is set among spectacular sand dunes overlooking Bass Strait . The course has been highly rated since opening in 2005, recognised as Australia ‘s number one public access course, and fifth best course of any sort in Australia. Amazingly, Barnbougle Dunes is the first new Australian course to enter the World’s Top 100 courses since rankings began, coming in at 49 after its first appraisal. And has since improved to be ranked the 35th best course in the world . The 4th best course built anywhere in the world for the past 70 years. Golf Odyssey , the preeminent newsletter devoted to golf travel, called Barnbougle Dunes “a piece of golfing heaven,” following its January 2007 review. Golfing tragic Greg Ramsay dreamed up the idea of building the course, and tourism entrepreneur and farmer Richard Sattler developed the concept with Ramsay, Doak and well known Melbourne golf identity Mike Clayton. The layout is not long, but certainly presents a tough assignment, particularly when the wind is blowing hard, as it often does in this part of Tasmania. Those fortunate enough to have played the courses of Northern Scotland and Ireland will be become instantly aware of the close resemblance between Barnbougle and

It can reach up to 11 centimetres (4.3 in) in length, making it one of Australia’s largest frogs. Many populations, particularly in the Sydney region, inhabit areas of frequent disturbance, such as golf courses, disused industrial land, brick pits and landfill areas. Though once one of the most common frogs in south-east Australia, the Green and Golden Bell Frog has endured major declines in population, leading to its current classification as globally vulnerable. Its numbers have continued to decline and are threatened by habitat loss and degradation, pollution, introduced species, and parasites and pathogens, including the chytrid (Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis). The common name, “Green and Golden Bell Frog”, was first adopted by Harold Cogger in his 1975 book Reptiles

Chapters: 2009 Pga Tour of Australasia, 2008 Pga Tour of Australasia, 2007 Pga Tour of Australasia, 2006 Pga Tour of Australasia, 2010 Pga Tour of Australasia. Excerpt: The PGA Tour of Australasia is a professional golf tour for men. Official events on the tour count for World Golf Ranking points. The tour was formed in 1973 as the PGA Tour of Australia and adopted its current name in 1991. Most of the leading players on the tour are Australian, with a smaller domestic contingent from New Zealand, but players from many other countries all over the world also participate. The very best Australasian players devote most of their time to the PGA Tour or the European Tour, typically returning home for two or three events each year or even not at all. Therefore the Australasian Tour is a feeder for the larger tours. Some of the leading events are co-sanctioned by the European Tour in order to encourage higher ranked players to enter and to attract more sponsorship. Players with a background on the tour who have reached the world top 20 since the turn of the Millennium include Steve Elkington and Adam Scott. The leading tournaments on the tour include the Australian Open, the Australian PGA Championship, the Australian Masters and the New Zealand Open. The PGA Tour of Australasia’s development tour was the Von Nida Tour (named after Australian golfer Norman Von Nida) which featured around ten events with purses in the region of AUD100,000 each. The main tour events took place in the Southern Hemisphere summer, that is late one calendar year and early the next, while the Von Nida Tour events mainly took place in the local spring and autumn. However the money list was calculated for calendar years. From 2009, the Von Nida Tour has been merged into the PGA Tou… More:

Excerpt: Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each. The goal is to score runs by hitting a thrown ball with a bat and touching a series of four bases arranged at the corners of a ninety-foot square, or diamond. Players on one team (the batting team) take turns hitting against the pitcher of the other team (the fielding team), which tries to stop them from scoring runs by getting hitters out in any of several ways. A player on the batting team can stop at any of the bases and later advance via a teammate’s hit or other means. The teams switch between batting and fielding whenever the fielding team records three outs. One turn at bat for each team constitutes an inning; nine innings make up a professional game. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins. Evolving from older bat-and-ball games, an early form of baseball was being played in England by the mid-eighteenth century. This game and the related rounders were brought by British and Irish immigrants to North America, where the modern version of baseball developed. By the late nineteenth century, baseball was widely recognized as the national sport of the United States. Baseball on the professional, amateur, and youth levels is now popular in North America, parts of Central and South America and… More:

Wollongong to Thirroul Bike Track

$43.99

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Wollongong to Thirroul Bike Track is a walking, jogging and bicycle track running from Wollongong City to Thirroul, a northern suburb of Wollongong, in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. The track is also known as the Heart Care Walk, and signs and markers were put in to promote this name and the Heart Care Foundation. These have since degraded, and it is known as the Wollongong to Thirroul Track by most locals or simply the Wollongong Coast Walk. The first mile from Flagstaff Point is known as the Peace Mile. The track starts as the City Walk from near the eastern end of Crown Street at Lang Park. It climbs a three metre rise, part of the Olympic Lookout, and descends to go past the bus depot. Here it splits into a bicycle track and walking track and joins the beachside sidewalk. The other alternative is starting at the end of Bank Street at the southern part of Wollongong Beach north of the golf course and south of WIN Stadium and to go along the bicycle/walking track along the coast which becomes the sidewalk to the surf lifesaving club.
